Connect with Zach
Zach Nelson, CFP®, MBA, had dreams of playing professional basketball from the time he was born. Upon graduation from Yuba City High School in Northern California, he was recruited and received a full-ride scholarship to play basketball for Utah Valley University. Fast forward a few surgery-filled years later and with almost zero athleticism remaining in his body, Zach realized his chances of a long career in competitive basketball were waning. So, he turned to another passion that he developed in while going to school… financial planning.
Zach graduated from Utah Valley University with a bachelor’s degree in Personal Financial Planning and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Woodbury School of Business. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Rock House Financial team, became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM, and a licensed Investment Advisor Representative.
His favorite part of the job is getting to know each clients’ individual goals and then helping them prepare, financially, to meet them. He enjoys the fact that each case is different because everyone has their own past experiences that have shaped who they are today.
While on the UVU Men’s Basketball team, he won two conference championships and is now the only player in UVU history to have at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 200 assists. With his competitive basketball career now over, Zach spends a lot of his evenings and weekends outdoors with his wife Prezley and their two dogs: Storm (Mini Aussie) & Luna (Golden Retriever). Whether it be playing fetch at one of the great parks near their Kaysville home or exploring the mountains along the beautiful Wasatch Front, Zach is happy and proud to now call Utah home.
